History
Mount Carmel

Hansua is located in the Techiman Municipality of the Bono East Region of Ghana. The town is bounded by Baamire, Akissimasu and the lands of Techiman ‘Krontihene’, ‘Nifahene’ and has a population of 2,343.

The Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church was started as an outstation Church of the St. Paul Parish when Our Lady of Mount Carmel Girls Senior High school, was established. The community begun worshipping at the school in 2007 when Frs. Boakye-Gyan and Peter Yeboah started visiting them. It received a major boost in 2009 and 2010 when Rev. Fr. James Annor-Ohene, the Chaplain for the school, and Rev. Fr. Martin Oduro Bilson frequently had Masses for both the school and community.

The community started with about twenty faithful. Today, it has grown to attain the status of a chaplaincy with two other station churches. Namely: St. James, Hansua and St. Augustine, Akisimasu with a population of over five hundred faithful. A Church building is under construction and it is almost at the roofing level. This Church is one of the fastest growing churches in the Diocese.
